I am an entrepreneur with a passion for products that combine digital technology and the real physical world. I am also an expert on the deployment of mobile marketing, social networking, payments, applications and other emerging media technologies in real market contexts.
I discovered my passion for media and digital business when I moved from New York to Tokyo in 1988. Electrified by Japan, I went on to study new media and publish
ing entrepreneurs, and earned a Ph.D. from Columbia University in the process. In the 1990s, I also got practical implementation experience working on the production side for several media companies in radio, TV, news, photos, magazine publishing, and digital, as the Internet really came of age.
When mobile Internet exploded in Japan in 2000, I co-founded Mobile Media Japan, a wireless consulting firm helping foreign companies breaking into the Japanese market. In 2003, I took Japanese mobile know-how overseas to co-found Mowave, a mobile solutions company that grew to launch over 100 mobile entertainment services for leading consumer brands and mobile operators in over 20 countries worldwide.
In 2008, I relocated to the US, going on to help found Fancharge, an LA-based startup with a mobile wallet, offers and fan engagement platform for live events in sports and entertainment.
In 2011, I began working for Visa in Global Product where I helped business owners and key stakeholders develop mobile products and services in the payment, loyalty, and offers space that were more secure, user-friendly, and compelling.
I am always looking for new challenges, especially if they involve the development of market-leading products with an excellent user experience and real commercial potential.
